Early Life and Education
Adunni Ade was born on June 7, 1985, in Queens, New York to a German-Irish mother and a Yoruba Nigerian father.
She is an actress in Nollywood, a filmmaker, and a fashion lover. When she was one year and a half old, she and her parents travelled back to Nigeria to attend her grandfather’s funeral. Her father raised her in Lagos State, Nigeria, until she was in her late teens, at which point she returned to the United States to finish her university studies.
She received her First School Leaving Certificate while attending Chrisland Primary School in Opebi, Lagos State. At the Bells Comprehensive Secondary School in Ota, Ogun State, she completed her Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
She was motivated to pursue accounting by her successful businessman father, who lives in Lagos. Adunni Ade attended the University of Kentucky to study accounting.
Prior to her departure for Nigeria, Adunni Ade worked for the States of Kentucky and Maryland, where she provided living help in the housing sector and medical insurance (Medicare and Medicaid) to individuals in need.

Before moving to the entertainment industry in the United States, Adunni Ade worked in the housing and insurance industries. Adunni made a foray into the world of fashion modelling and appeared on America’s Next Top Model. She got her first Nollywood gig since returning to Nigeria when she appeared in the Yoruba movie “You or I” in 2013.
In 2014, she uploaded the one-minute comedic skit “Date Gone Bad” to YouTube, and it received more than 170,000 views. She has appeared in more over 250 Nollywood films, both in Yoruba and English. With the help of her film production business Lou-Ellen Clara business Limited, Adunni Ade made her filmmaking debut in 2021 with the release of SOL, which included several of the nation’s top actors, including Sola Sobowale, Femi Jacobs, Meg Otanwa, Shawn Faqua, and Lateef Dimeji.
Kayode Kasum directed the motion picture. On November 26, 2021, Soólè was released in theatres. It made 10.2 million Naira in its first weekend and 16 million Naira in its first week. Soólè entered the top 10 Nollywood films playing in theatres for 2021 after earning over 51 million naira in its first nine weeks of release. In 2022, SOL received Shawn Faqua’s Best Actor in a Comedy AMVCA (Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award) nomination.
Additionally, she was honoured with her first Yoruba Award for Best Yoruba Actress at the 5th Cool Wealth Awards. Her work to promote Nigerian culture earned her a Stella Award from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism. Adunni Ade was named OUD Majestic’s brand ambassador in 2017.
In 2018, she authored and produced “Emi Mi – My Soul,” a Yoruba film directed by Saheed Balogun. Ibrahim Chatta, D’Marion Young, Sunkanmi Omobolanle, and Sola Kosoko were the film’s stars.
Later same year, she produced the Yoruba drama film “Ewa – Beauty” with Ibrahim Chatta, Yinka Quadri, Kunle Omisore, and Tayo Sobola as the cast. The film was directed by Saheed Balogun. She has appeared in well over 100 Nigerian films, both English- and Yoruba-language Nollywood productions.
