Blackface Naija Biography
Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, also known as Blackface Naija or just Blackface, is a Nigerian dancehall, ragga, and reggae singer and songwriter.
He is most known for co-writing “African Queen” with 2Baba, a song that later became popular after it was included on the latter’s 2004 debut solo album Face 2 Face and went on to become a worldwide smash.
Early Life and Education
Blackface was born on August 30,1974, in Nigeria. He is a native of Oguwule, Agetu Local Government, Benue State, Nigeria, which is in the country’s north central region.
He began his academic career in 1985 at the Army Children’s School in Otukpo. And he completed his secondary education in 1991 at Makurdi’s Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School.
He completed his undergraduate studies in Enugu in 1996, earning a National Diploma (ND) in Business Administration and Management from the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.
Blackface Career
In the year 2000, Blackface made his debut in the music business when he started a group called Plantashun Boyz with musicians 2Baba, commonly known as 2face, and Chibuzor Oji (better known as Faze).
In Benue state, Blackface and 2face formed a bond while still in secondary school. The band released “sold out” in 2003 after successfully releasing two albums titled “body and soul” in the same year.
When Blackface asserted ownership of the song “African QUEEN,” the band sadly split up in 2004. The band then reformed in 2007 for just one more album, titled plan B.
Blackface collaborated with many musicians to create his hip-pop album, Ghetto Child, in May 2005.
Alabai’s “Hard Life” serves as the first single from the album. In 2013, Blackface and Maine Eazz released the album 200, which helped launch his career and garnered him numerous honours.
