Early Life and Education
Oakley Neil Caesar-Su was born on June 4, 1998, in Ladbroke Grove, London to an Irish mother and an Guyanese father with Chinese and Arawak descent. His mother Rachel Caesar met his father at age 15, and began dating him against her parents wishes, subsequently getting cut off financially. Caesar-Su was raised by his mother alongside two younger brothers in Shepherd’s Bush. One of his brothers is Juke Caesar, who appeared on the 23 mixtape under the name “Lil Bro”.
Caesar-Su would listen to American hip-hop when he went to see his father. When he went to the Notting Hill Carnival, he would also be exposed to reggae and dancehall music. In school, Caesar-Su reportedly kept to himself but occasionally misbehaved and snapped. Despite being a few years older than rapper Digga D, they both attended the same school.
When Caesar-Su was 14 years old, he started making music. He spent three weeks working at a shoe business before learning his pay and quitting. In order to make ends meet, Ceasar-Su finally started selling drugs, saying, “When you’re coming from where I’m coming from, everybody from all walks of life, nine times out of 10, they had to do it. Similar to learning to ride a bike”.
Central Cee Career
On the “Ain’t On Nuttin” Remix, Central Cee makes his debut as a featured artist alongside J Hus and Bonkaz. The song was published in 2015, and it was only after that that he decided to go by the moniker “Central Cee.”
Later, he released Streetheat, a freestyle song, as his debut solo tune. After that, in August 2016, he published another solo song called “Pull Up.”
His debut musical endeavor, The EP 17, was published the following year, in 2017. Following that, he dropped the popular song “Next Up?” in October 2019.
His track “Obsessed With You” peaked at number 4 on the UK Singles Chart in the month of September 2021. Later, the song was used as the main single on Central Cee’s second mixtape, 23.
The 2021 Christmas saw the publication of Central Cee’s Daily Duppy. The mixtape’s “Retail Therapy” and “Cold Shoulder” were the second and third singles to be released, respectively on January 6 and January 27.
