In Nollywood, Daniel Etim Effiong is a well-known actor and producer. He is well recognized for his role as Lanre Taiwo in the web drama series The Men’s Club.
He is also well-known for his performances as Efosa in the films From Lagos With Love (2018) and Down and Out (2012). Daniel Etim Effiong was nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards in 2020 for the film Plan B.
Early Life and Education
He was born in Jaji, Kaduna State, Nigeria, and had previously resided in Abuja, Lagos State, and Benin City, Edo State. His father served in the army of Nigeria.
Along with five other individuals sentenced to life in prison in 1986 following the allegedly unsuccessful Vatsa Coup under the Ibrahim Babangida regime on charges of treason concealment against the regime, his father, former Lt. Col. Moses Effiong, was officially pardoned by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari in 1993, but without official proclamation and the restoration of ranks and entitlements.
He received his early schooling at St. Mary’s Private School in Lagos Island, Lagos, then continued on to Government College in Ikorodu, Lagos, for his secondary education. He then continued on to the Federal University of Technology in Minna, Niger State, where he pursued his first degree in chemical engineering.
He briefly worked as an engineer in the oil and gas sector before deciding to change his career. He enrolled in AFDA Film School in South Africa to study filmmaking, writing, and directing, and later took a course in the subject at the University of Johannesburg.

He left his position in the oil and gas industry to work as a content producer for NdaniTV. In 2017, he produced and directed a five-minute short film called “Prey” with Tope Tedela and Odenike Odetola. It was directed by his newlywed wife, Toyosi.
In 2019, Bland2Glam included him in her #thePowerof7 campaign to honor her seven years in the fashion business.
He appeared in the 2019 comedy film Plan B opposite Kenyan actors Sarah Hassan and Catherine Kamau Karanja in the role of Dele Coker, a Nigerian CEO of a Nairobi-based company.
He received a nomination for the film in the 7th AMVCA awards’ Best Actor in a Comedy (Movie/TV Series) category.
He appeared in several movies released in 2020. He portrayed the lead character in the Editi Effiong-produced film “Fish Bone,” which also starred Shaffy Bello and Moshood Fattah.
He appeared in the short film “Storm,” which was produced by Diane Russet and directed by Michael “AMA Psalmist” Akinrogunde, starring Ike Onyema and Atteh “SirDee” Daniel.
He directed the Beverly Naya-produced documentary “Skin” in 2020. It was supposed to air on NETFLIX.
