DJ Kaywise was born on August 4, 1992, in Lagos, Nigeria. His hometown is Ile Ife in the state of Osun.
He attended elementary and secondary school in Lagos State, where he was raised. He rose to fame after releasing the mixtape “Emergency,” which was a compilation of popular tracks at the time.
DJ Kaywise Career
DJ Kaywise began his career as a record producer before deciding that he would rather be a disc jockey. He began his career as a DJ in 2010, and after his “Emergency” mixtape successfully entered the mixtape industry in Lagos’ Alaba market, he gained notoriety.
He has so far collaborated on numerous music and visual projects with Nigerian and African artists, released over 10,000 CD Mixtapes, over 50 internet Mixtapes, and more.
In 2012, Kaywise dropped his debut track, “Hangover,” which featured Dammy Krane and Yung 6ix. On the song “Loyalist” from 2013, he included Iyanya.
Together with Nigerian performers Mayorkun, Naira Marley, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, Vector, and Ice Prince, he has released singles. In 2019, he launched Kaywise Academy, a DJ academy. the “Revolution Mix Vol1” mixtape in support of the EndSars movement, which got its start in Nigeria in 2020.
His song “What Type of Dance” with Mayorkun, Naira Marley, and Zlatan Ibile reached its highest point at number five on the Billboard Top Triller Global chart in August 2020.
In December 2020, he published the single “High Way” with Phyno. After spending two weeks on the Billboard Top Triller Global Chart, the single peaked at number seven.
The inaugural performance of DJ Kaywise’s street concert known as “The Joor Concert” took place in 2016. He said in an interview that the concert’s first four iterations saw over 50,000 people in attendance. In January 2020, DJ Kaywise held the fifth iteration of his yearly street performance.
The Joor Concert has had two editions in London and one in Dubai, among other places across the nation over the years.
