Early Life and Education
Dr. SID was born and raised in Lagos but is from Delta State. His father, Justus Esiri, is an actor, while his mother is a fashion designer.
His father, who served as the Village Headmaster in the 1980s hit Nigerian sitcom The Village Headmaster, was a Member of the Order of the Niger (MON). Dr. SID, the second of his family’s four children, knew from an early age that he wanted to be a performer.
After graduating from the Nigerian Air Force Secondary School in Ikeja, SID continued his studies at the University of Ibadan in Ibadan (UI) to pursue a career in dentistry and dental surgery.
His love of entertainment was evident during his school years as he participated in plays, dance competitions, and concerts, collecting various prizes along the way.

As a choreographer, Dr. SID joined the brand-new record company Trybe Records, which also released the Nigerian hip hop group Trybesmen. He would accompany the Trybesmen on their three-year tour as a backup dancer.
Dr. SID received his chance to perform when he joined Da Trybe and was given a slot on the song “OYA” in 2002, which was the catalyst for a revolution in Nigerian hip-hop. He performed with Sasha, 2-Shotz, Timi, DEL, and the Trybesmen (Eldee, Kb, and Freestyle).
SID recorded his debut single, “Don’t Stop,” during the course of the following year, and it spent eight weeks at the top of the MBI top ten. However, his music career had to be put on hold since he needed to take a year off to complete his university degree.
Dr. SID earned his dental degree. He relocated to the UK and began working with artists including Felix Duke, R70, D’prince, JJC & the 419 squad, and D’prince. Upon his return to Nigeria, he worked at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital for the following year before continuing to serve his country in Yola, in the state of Adamawa. He combined dentistry and music while working at different dental offices.
He started work on the single “Raise da roof” from his studio album Prognosis. At the 2005 Amen Awards, he received a nomination in the Best New Act category. He gave up on the record in 2006.
After three years, Dr. SID decided to give up his dental practice in order to focus solely on his music career. He joined Don Jazzy’s Mo’ Hits Records and recorded Curriculum Vitae (CV), a compilation album by the Mo’ Hits Allstars, which was released in December 2007. He appeared on seven of the album’s fifteen tracks, including “Booty Call” and “Close to You.”
Dr. SID performed at some of the biggest concerts in 2008, including the Thisday Music Festival and Star Mega Jam, while traveling with the Mo Hits Allstars.
Producer Don Jazzy and Dr. SID began work on his debut solo studio album for Mo’ Hits Records. “Something About You,” the first single from the album Turning Point, was released in September 2009 and is now climbing the African charts with two additional songs, Winchi Winchi ft. Wande Coal and Pop Something ft. D’banj. Along with D’banj, Wande Coal, and Kenyan musician STL, he also performed at the MTV Africa Music Awards in Kenya as a member of the Mo’ Hits Allstars.
Turning Point, Dr SID’s debut album from Mo’ Hits Records, was released on April 11. The album’s lead single, “Over the Moon,” debuted at number one in Nigeria.
After D’banj and Don Jazzy, the cofounders of Mo’ Hits Records, fell out, Dr. SID joined Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records. Additionally, he got three tracks from his next album included on the Solar Plexus compilation album by Mavin Records.
On December 20, 2013, Dr. Sid issued his second album, Siduction. Tiwa Savage, Ice Prince, Emma Nyra, Alexandra Burke, Phyno, and Wizkid made guest appearances on the album. BlayzeBeats, Don Jazzy, and Baby Fresh produced songs for the album.
