Killertunes, whose real name is Daniel Otaniye Olaye, was born on June 22, 1986, in Benin City, the capital of Nigeria’s Edo State.
He was exposed to music at a young age and began learning about it. At the age of 17, he started to study more about music production. He started making beats for nearby artists when he was just 18 years old. He connected with other producers and worked together to generate original beats for regional acts.

When Killertunes was still a high school student, he began to acquire a passion for music production. He has demonstrated that he is an accomplished producer by working with notable musicians in the Nigerian music business.
Killertunes relocated from Edo state to Lagos in order to advance his career as a music producer. He unexpectedly encountered legendary disc jockey DJ Spinall, and finally was signed to DJ Spinall’s label, The Cap Music.
DJ Spinall gave Killertunes permission to produce one of his studio albums when he wanted to release it.
Killertunes rose to prominence as one of Nigeria’s most sought-after producers in less than 4 years. Soon, he was inundated with requests from musicians of various genres to produce their songs.
He is also well recognised for offering up-and-coming musicians free studio time. The popular afrobeat song Manya by Mut4y and Wizkid was produced by Killertunes.
Additionally, he was the creator of numerous other popular songs in Nigeria, including Bobo by Mayorkun and Davido, Beginning by Joeboy, Baba by Kizz Daniel and DJ Spinall, and Motigbana by Olamide.
