Early Life and Education
Hon. Justice Musa Dattijo Muhammad was born on October 27,1953, in Chanchaga Local Government Area in Minna, Niger State.
Between 1960 and 1966, His Lordship received his elementary education at Native Authority School in Minna. From 967 to 1971, he attended Sheikh Sabbah College, which is now Sardauna Memorial Secondary School in Kaduna, for his secondary education.
His Lordship continued his education, earning his Pre-degree Certificate at Abdullahi Bayero College (now Bayero University) in Kano between 1972 and 1973.
Between 1973 and 1976, he earned his LLB (Hons.) at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, and in 1977, he graduated from the Nigerian Law School with a BL. Between 1982 and 1983, His Lordship pursued his LLM at Warwick University in Coventry, UK. He also earned an Advanced Certificate in Practise and Procedure from the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies.
Musa Dattijo Muhammad Career
Hon. Justice Dattijo started his professional career in 1976 as a Higher Registrar at the High Court of Justice in Minna. From 1977 to 1978, he completed the required NYSC training.
After that, in 1978, he was named Magistrate Grade II, and in 1984, he was promoted to Chief Magistrate. In 1986, His Lordship was named Chief Registrar, and in 1989, he was appointed Judge of the High Court, Niger State.
Hon. Justice Dattijo was appointed to the Court of Appeal in 1998. She also served as the division’s presiding justice in the Sokoto division in 2009 and the Port Harcourt division in 2010.
On July 10, 2012, His Lord was elevated to the Nigerian Supreme Court. In June 2022, he was named Deputy Chairman of the National Judicial Council.
