Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown was born on June 7, 1993, in Inglewood, California, to a single mother who worked on tanks in the United States Army.

Lee was up in Tupelo, Mississippi, and started making music as “Dem Outta St8 Boyz” in high school with his brother Slim Jxmmi and a local rapper named Lil Pantz.

Lee and his brother experienced homelessness following their high school graduation and lived in an abandoned home.

Swae Lee Career 

He and Slim Jxmmi joined Mike Will Made It’s label EarDrummers Entertainment in 2013 and formed the group Rae Sremmurd. Since then, they have put out three studio albums under the names EarDrummers: SremmLife, SremmLife 2, and SR3MM.

Lee made an appearance on “Drinks on Us” by Mike Will Made It in March 2015, which also included Future and The Weeknd and became his debut solo single.
