Emmanuel Owusu-Bonsu, known by his stage name Wanlov the Kubolor was born on September 8, 1980, in Ploiești, Romania, is a Ghanaian-Romanian musician and film director born to an Akan father and a Romanian mother.
The Ga word kubolor, which simply means “truant,” also denotes “wanderer” or “vagrant.” He is the brother of Deborah Owusu-Bonsu, a musician, model, and television personality.

Early Life and Education
Before Kubulor turned one year old, his parents relocated to Ghana, and he grew up in a creative home where both of his parents had a passion for the arts and were ardent music collectors. He went to Adisadel College.
He started rapping along with his high school friends and performing on the local circuit in Cape Coast and Takoradi while he was a student at Adisadel. His long-lasting musical collaboration with the lyricist M3NSA was born in this setting.
In 2000, he relocated to the US to attend Mary Hardin Baylor University. After two years of computer science and business administration classes, he left to focus solely on his musical career.
Wanlov the Kubolor Career
After spending seven years in the USA, Kubulor returned to Ghana in late 2007 and immediately released his debut album, “Green Card.”
Wanlov the Kubolor has worked with artists all around the world, including Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, a legend of Ghanaian Highlife and rap, and Reggie Rockstone, considered the father of Hiplife.
He has advocated for a number of issues, including those related to Ghana’s ecology or pollution, including OAfrica, a charity for abandoned children.
He stated that he “is considering making a third instalment to his Ghanaian Pidgin-English musical Coz Ov Moni” in a 2017 message to Blogging Ghana members.
