Early Life and Education
ZieZie was born on June 3, 1998 to a Congolese family. He was raised in Chessington before relocating to Croydon in southern London.
His professors urged him to join the school choir when he was 11 years old, and he later credited the experience with giving birth to his desire to pursue a career as an actor or singer. When he was 12 years old, his father died.
ZieZie began studying carpentry in college, but he had to miss five months since his mother had to go to the Congo to take care of his grandma. So he made the decision to stop and concentrate on his music.
With the SoundCloud release of “Shawty” in December 2016, ZieZie launched his career. RCA Records signed “Shawty” in 2017, after the success of “Mingle” and “Hello” and some underground interest in the song.
His breakthrough single, “Fine Girl,” produced by Ill Blu, debuted on GRM Daily in April 2018 and debuted on the UK Singles Chart in May 2018. In 2020, the British Phonographic Industry certified “Fine Girl” platinum after it reached its peak position at number 30.
Additionally, the song appeared on Ministry of Sound’s Now That’s What I Call Music! 101 and Love Island – The Pool Party. Krept & Konan and Loski collaborated with him on Ill Blu’s “Chop My Money,” then in December 2018 he released his second solo track, “Sensei.”
ZieZie began the year by appearing on Olivia Holt’s song “Speaker” by Canadian band Banx & Ranx and on Ay Em, Geko, and C. Tangana’s song “Go Time” by Ill Blu. In June, he released his own single, “Persian.” He was a featured performer on Aitch’s chart-topping track “Buss Down” in September, which was certified platinum in 2021 and peaked at number 8 on the UK Singles Chart.
Aitch and ZieZie sing “Buss Down” in December at The O2 as part of Capital FM’s 2019 Jingle Bell Ball extravaganza. ZieZie joined Aitch’s UK tour as a result of their cooperation; later that year, he appeared alongside Aitch on the track “French Kisses,” and he continued to assist the artist in 2020.
ZieZie ranked sixth in the “Official Top 20 Afrobeats Artists of the Past 12 Months” list published in July 2020. Later that year, he released the Ambezza-produced single “Worth It” with S1mba and Stylo G, with a second video debuting on GRM Daily.
Following that, he released “Pamela” with Wauve and Stonebwoy, which was included on Wavue’s EP Shade, “Pattern Up” with Nat Slater, and “Late Night Text” with Ms Banks and Kwengface.
ZieZie released the single “Blessed” in February 2021, and it reached its highest point on the UK Afrobeats Singles Chart at number five.
The songs “Flow” (with American rapper King Critical) and “Different” (which peaked at number 10 on the UK Afrobeats chart) came next. Lil Tjay’s UK tour in November 2021 had ZieZie as support.
The track “Glad U Came” by producer Liilz featuring ZieZie, which samples The Wanted’s “Glad You Came,” marked ZieZie’s return to the UK Singles Chart after almost two years.
The song debuted in March 2022 and peaked at position 15 on the chart. Then, in the same month, Banx & Ranx surprised everyone by including it in their remix of Sigala’s “Melody”.
