Early Life and Education
Emem Usoro is an indigene of Akwa Ibom State, Southern Nigeria. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Uyo in 1996, and in 1997, she earned a Master of Business Administration from Obafemi Awolowo University.
She enrolled in a Senior Management programme at the Lagos Business School of the Pan African University in 2007 in an effort to learn more.
She participated in two programmes at the Harvard Business School, one for general management in 2009 and one for strategic management in 2008. She holds Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) Fellow status.
Emem Nnana Usoro Career
She began her career in 2004 as a branch manager at the now-defunct Bank PHB. From 2004 to 2007, she served as a zonal head, and from 2007 to 2009, she served as the bank’s regional executive for the Victoria Island region.
She joined the United Bank for Africa in 2010, serving wisely as the branch’s regional head in Akwa-Ibom and Abuja from 2010 to 2013.
Her perseverance and commitment during her time with UBA won her high managerial positions in the bank, and in 2022 she was appointed Executive Director of the bank.
She was chosen by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to serve as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in September 2023.
