Because the average Nigerian pays more attention to the beat than the actual song when listening to music, music producers have become an essential element of our culture.

Technical and creative skills are required for professional music production. It calls for honed listening abilities, proficiency with recording equipment, and a broad musical understanding. With success after hit, 2023 has been a great year for our music (Nigerian) industry, but we must recognise the creators of each and every song.

Top 10 Best Nigerian Music Producers 

Here is the list of top ten best Nigerian Music Producers in 2023:

  • P2J

The majority of the music on Wizkid’s “More Love, Less Ego” album were produced by P2J, who is Wizkid’s personal producer. On Burna Boy’s “Love Damini,” he also contributed four songs: “Science,” “Whisky,” “Dirty Secrets,” and “For My Hand.”

The songs “i” and “Tell Everybody” on Omah Lay’s “Boy Alone” were also produced by him.

  • Young John

Young Jonn (JIGGY), a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and music producer, is well known for his top singles Dada and the remix with Davido. Prior to fully transitioning to songwriting in the 2010s, he had music production credits on popular industry singles and was primarily linked with the YBNL mafia family.

Later, he moved up to third place on The NET’s list of “Nigeria’s Top 7 Biggest Music Producers” and was nominated for “Producer of The Year” at both the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards and The Headies 2015.  He is currently connected to Chocolate City Music.

Young John currently has a song called Xtra Cool that has reached the top two on streaming apps.

  • Kel P

Kel P is the stage name of Udoma Peter Kelvin Amba, a Nigerian record producer, performer, and songwriter. Kel P rose to fame as a Nigerian influencer and is most known for producing the 2019 album African Giant, which was nominated for a Grammy and won.

In addition, Wizkid’s song that is nominated for the Made in Lagos Deluxe version contains a Grammy Award-winning beat that was co-produced by Kel P and AngĂ©lique Kidjo.

The Aristokrat Group, the parent business of Aristokrat Records, and Universal Music France, a division of the Universal Music Group, collaborated with Kel P. He also secured a distribution agreement with Caroline France.

  • Pheelz

On the list is another producer named Pheelz. Nigerian record producer, singer, and composer Phillip Kayode Moses, better known by his stage name Pheelz, has collaborated with a number of well-known musicians there. Most recently, Pheelz wrote the hit song Fitness, in which Buju appears.

Typically, keyboard, drums, guitar, and vocals were used to create his sound. All save one of the songs on Olamide’s Baddest Guy Ever Liveth album are credited to Pheelz.

  • Tempoe

Tempoe, who is well known for the tag “MD!” is the producer of Victony’s “Soweto” and Omah Lay’s “Soso.” Additionally, he worked on the songs “Contour” by Joeboy, “The Front Door” by MI Abaga with Duncan Mighty, and “Iz Going” by Bad Boy Timz.

  • MasterKraft

Masterkraft, whose real name is Sunday Ginikachukwu Nweke, is from the Nigerian state of Enugu. He was born in the Ajegunle Ghetto in Lagos State, Nigeria, where he started performing music at the age of 11. 

He attended United Christian Secondary School in Apapa as a child, where he harboured aspirations of becoming an accountant. His dream was cut short by the passing of his father, which was difficult for the family.

  • Blaisebeatz

Another fantastic producer is Blaisebeatz. He became well-known in 2020 thanks to the smash song “Pami” by DJ Tunez.

His production credits include “Call Me Everyday” by Chris Brown and Wizkid, “Cough” by Kizz Daniel, “Buga” with Reward Beatz, “Ess Mama” by Blaqbonez, “In My Mind” and “LOOSE EMOTIONS” by Buju(BNXN), “In My Mind” and “LOOSE EMOTIONS” by Buju(BNXN), “No Wahala” by 1daBaton, and many others.

  • Killertunes

Daniel Otaiye Olaye, better known by his stage name Killertune, is a Nigerian producer, award-winning record producer, and composer who has produced a large number of successful continental singles. One of the most talented and well-known sound designers from Africa is Killertunes.

Killertune began his profession when he was just 17 years old. Later, he began creating some percussion instruments, which he used as a backing soundtrack to jazz up the music he was producing with his piano and guitar skills.

Killertool is the name of Killertune’s instruments. That looks funny, lol! Through this and years of consistency, he establishes himself as the most sought-after producer in Africa, displaying that mark of professionalism.

  • Sarz

Sarz rose to fame thanks to the success of his single “Jor Oh” and the Jahbless Remix, which also included Durella, RuggedMan, Reminisce, Ice Prince, and eLDee.

He contributed to the creation of the songs “Kilofe” and “Jaiye Jaiye” from Wizkid’s album in 2013. According to the Premium Times Nigeria, he is one of the five new music producers giving Don Jazzy a run for his money.

Later that year, it was revealed that Sarz had agreed to work with Nike as an endorser. The official Hennessy Artistry 2014 theme song, Dance Go Eau de Vie, which featured Wizkid and 2Face Idibia, was produced by Sarz.

  • Niphkeys

Another talented producer in 2022 is Niphkeys. He is most known for creating the amapiano rhythm and is the mind behind the majority of Zinoleesky’s amapiano compositions.

He created the songs “Bobo” by Skiibi, “I’m a Mess” by Omah Lay, “Ronaldo” by Mohbad, “Rocking,” “Loving You,” and “Blessing” by Zinoleesky, and “Man of the Year” by Reekado Banks in the year 2022.
